The medical center’s pediatric ER is a separate emergency department that is dedicated solely to treating the emergency health care needs of infants, children and adolescents.
“Since the opening of our pediatric ER in February 2013, we have provided specialty care to more than 15,000 area children,” said Elizabeth Sheridan, R.N., M.A., chief operating officer of Inspira Medical Center Vineland and chief nursing executive. “Our pediatric ER has proven to be a highly utilized service by our community and we are pleased to now offer this high level specialty care to area parents and their children around-the-clock.”
The pediatric ER at Inspira Medical Center Vineland is a colorful, 8-bed unit that is designed specifically for children. It features specialized equipment and exam rooms, as well as a kid-friendly waiting area.
Inspira emergency medicine physicians, specially trained nurses and pediatric hospitalists from Nemours Children's Health work together to ensure excellent age appropriate care. Dedicated emergency department beds ensure quicker triaging of sick children and decreased wait times.
Additionally, for children that need to be admitted to the hospital for further treatment, Inspira Medical Center Vineland offers a specialized pediatric inpatient unit comprised of board certified pediatricians, pediatric specialists, family physicians, neonatologists, pediatric nurses and pediatric nurse practitioners.
Inspira’s physicians and staff coordinate each child’s treatment plan with their primary care physician/pediatrician and also provide assistance with finding or scheduling appropriate follow-up care. Nemours Kids transport is available to bring pediatric patients to duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware if needed.
