Inspira’s hospitals are three of only 25 hospitals in New Jersey and 844 hospitals across the nation to receive an A, ranking them among the safest hospitals.
The most recent Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades, which assign A, B, C, D and F letter grades to hospitals nationwide and provide the most complete picture of patient safety in the U.S., were announced today by The Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog.
“At Inspira Health Network, safety is at the very core of our culture. I am extremely proud that all three of Inspira’s medical centers have been recognized for their dedication to patient safety by receiving A’s in the most recent Hospital Safety Grade,” said John DiAngelo, president and CEO of Inspira.”
“Protecting patients from harm is the most important charge for any hospital,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We recognize and appreciate ‘A’ hospitals’ vigilance and continued dedication to keeping their patients safe.”
Developed under the guidance of an Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
“Recently, Inspira committed to embarking upon a transformation to become a high reliability organization to provide even safer care for every patient we serve,” said DiAngelo. “A key part of this transformation is our focus on eliminating preventable harm. By applying layers of checks to the way we provide care, our staff can identify mistakes before they affect our patients.”
