Position Summary
This position collaborates with the MCH Services Leadership team to ensure that all information required by the NJDOHSS Bureau of Vital Statistics Electronic Birth Certificate program and Paternity Opportunity Program is collected and accurately enters in the date to NJDOHSS EBC software program within the time frame mandated by NJDOHSS regulations. This position will perform all clerical, receptionist, and other assigned duties that are relevant to department.
Position Responsibilities
- Completes required documentation as it relates to birth certificates VERI (EBC), death certificates, and birth defects registration prior to patient discharge.
- Ensures correct information is reported to the Social Security Administration for the issuance of Social Security numbers to newborns.
- Maintains all birth, morbidity and mortality statistics and reports.
- Prepares standard and ad-hoc computer reports and maintains related statistics
- Obtains physician signatures and/or certification as required for all certificates
- Sends required documentation of all births to the local registrar and State in a timely manner
- Generates Fetal Death Certificates for funeral homes
- Safeguards sensitive medical information and follows strict procedures in handling confidentiality of data pertaining to patients
- IEM follow up and data collection
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned
Position Experience Required
1. Minimum one- three years Health Care Clerical Support.
2. Knowledge of medical terminology and state requirements for electronic birth statements and related items.

High School Diploma or GED required. Some College degree preferred.
Ability to Use Microsoft Office and Excel software programs required
