Position Description

MAJOR FUNCTION:Perform duties specific to a Medical Imaging department with focus on providing quality patient care. The clerk/tech aide will interact with all imaging staff and customers to facilitate many processes and ensure a positive experience. Assists in responsibilities as assigned. May perform both clinical and clerical duties.

Position Responsibilities

Liaison with registration staff and imaging staff.

Answer and monitor all phone calls.

Pre-register all procedures and send to the Pre-Service department.

Guide patients requiring follow-up imaging to the Access Center for schedule.

Check out patients and complete appropriate paperwork to schedule biopsies, when appropriate.

Prepare reports/ imaging forms/schedule.

Film release process-initial.

Film release process-pick up.

Import CD images from outside facilities and manage them in PACS when necessary.

Releasing and documenting protected medical information when necessary.

Burning CDs and checking images on the CDs.

Reporting patient results to care givers.

Mail reports to ordering physician, when appropriate.

Maintain supply of forms.

Stocks linen and other supplies throughout department whenever necessary.

Delivers new supplies to their proper location, always rotating stock by expiration date.

Send procedures to Pre-service for Pre-reg/Pre-cert, when appropriate.

Assist supervisor when needed.

Performs all other duties necessary for the maintenance of the efficient, economical and high-quality operation of the department.

Assist RN.

Transports patients to and from desired locations as needed using two forms of ID.

Complete appropriate paperwork to schedule procedures.

Pathology entry.

Prepare procedure charts.

Assist techs in preparing patients for imaging.

Assists techs with one-on-one support for patients with dementia, Alzheimer's, etc.

Assists techs to provide safe environment within the exam room.

Assists techs with inpatients care brought to the imaging center.

Assists with patients on/off exam table.

Performs clinical history interviews with patient and screens for any contraindications for exam to be performed and/or any allergies to contrast agents or medications to be administered. Alerts technologist if any answers require investigation.

Prepares exam table and room, as appropriate, for the exam to be performed gathering additional supplies needed and assists technologist with patient.

Responsible for obtaining pertinent reports, images, prescriptions, labs and other clinical data, as needed for the exam.

Assists in performing all computer functions including, but not limited to PACS, Visual Queue, Soarian/Cerner, ED EMR, IPMR).

Assists with scheduling in-patient Medical Imaging procedures (coordinating transport, following up on screening forms, communicating with nurse and or radiologist as necessary etc.).

Escorts patients using iCARE to and from exam room and ensures that they are properly dressed and prepped for the exam to be performed.

Assist the ACCESS center when information is needed.

Overlook the waiting room/offer water bottles to family waiting/restroom cleanliness.

Assist the patients with the iPads for Inspira Insight.

Print the schedule daily for the following day.

Provides assistance to the registrar to maintain an efficient workflow for the Imaging Department, when necessary.

Obtain CEED voucher.

Collect co-pays.

Screen every patient for appropriate scheduling (screening vs. diagnostic)
