Position Description

This position is responsible for the coordination and supervision of the Sterile Processing Department. Directs and supervises the workload by establishing task priority and assignment of work to the staff. Must be capable of performing all duties of Sterile Processing Technician. Recommends and supports goals and objectives that are consistent with the Mission of the organization. Delivers exceptional quality and service to all patients and other customers. Through a constant pursuit of excellence and respect for every individual, fosters an environment of participation, teamwork and professional growth. Assumes responsibility of all Sterile Processing activities and sites in the absence of the manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years in Sterile Processing experience required.
  • Previous lead or supervisory exp. preferred.
  • CRCST required and in good standing.
  • Certified as a Manager/Supervisor (CHL) in Sterile Processing by a state approved certification body required within one year of employment.
  • Requires a thorough understanding of and ability to apply the principles of decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution.
  • Knowledge of surgical instrumentation required.
  • Good communication, organizational, and customer service skills required.

Position Responsibilities

Leadership:

  • Communicates effectively with the Sterile Processing staff regarding status of work to be continued/completed.
  • Provides all reports, data etc. to the Manager of Sterile Processing on time.
  • Monitors all sterilization done on site.
  • Assists in developing departmental staffing and monitors QA policies.

Provides training and instruction to employees:

  • Assists with orientation with new employees.
  • Serves as a resource for education issues and educational development.

Supports the operations of the organization/department by active participation South Jersey Healthcare's and Department goals and objectives:

  • Follows all policies/procedures related to Standard Universal Precautions/Infection Control.
  • Projects a professional image by adhering to dress code per policy.
  • Adheres to Inspira's Technology Policy.
  • Participates in departmental staff conferences.
  • Monitors and maintains cleanliness and organization in work area.
