MAJOR FUNCTION:

Performs patient testing that includes EKGs and EEGs. Applies and analyzes Holter monitoring. Performs test reconciliation in databases and medical records.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

High School Diploma.

Experience in EKGs required.

Experience in Holter monitor application and EEGs preferred.

Certification/Licensure:

EKG Technician certification (CET) required within 1 year of hire.

Active CPR certification required.

Performs Electrocardiography (ECG or EKG):

Explains the function and process of test prior to the test.

Attaches EKG electrodes to patients to monitor heart activity and removes them after tests are completed.

Logs and reviews test data.

Provides attending physician with test results for interpretation.

Removes and stores equipment when testing is completed.

Oversees use of all equipment and ensures that all equipment is working properly.

Contacts Biomed or vendor as needed.

Requests new testing equipment or supplies if needed.

Administers Holter tests, which monitor patient heart activity for 24 hours, 48 hours or as specified:

Logs and reviews test data.

Notes specific images and places on the test results for physicians to review closely.

Provides attending physician with test results.

Assists cardiologists in analyzing results and cardiovascular activity.

Removes and stores equipment when testing is completed.

Ensures that all equipment is working properly.

Contacts Biomed or vendor as needed.

Requests new testing equipment or supplies if needed.

Performs Electroencephalograms (EEG):

Explains the function and process of test prior to the test.

Attaches EEG electrodes to patients to record the electrical signals of the brain.

Logs and reviews test data.

Notes specific images and places on the test results for physicians to review closely.

Provides attending physician with test results for interpretation.

Removes and stores equipment when testing is completed.

Ensures that all equipment is working properly.

Contacts Biomed or vendor as needed.

Requests new testing equipment or supplies if needed.

Performs test reconciliation in MUSE, Natus, and EMR.

Assists in Cardiac Stress Testing:

Assist in care of patient during testing.
