MAJOR FUNCTION: The Coding Manager will report to the Systems Director of Coding and will be primarily responsible for managing the day-to-day operations for the coding functions within the professional physician coding scope of work. The Coding Manager will review, evaluate, any concerns or issues for all hospital and professional claims. The Coding Manager will provide instructional coding training. The Coding Manager will supervise the coding team to ensure accurate coding is coded, coding is completed timely. The Coding Manager will work collaboratively with the Revenue Cycle team, Clinical teams, Physicians, APNs, and Practice Managers etc., to ensure all areas of concern are investigated and thoroughly addressed to resolution. The Coding Manager will also assist practice physicians and managers with all coding inquires, errors, and/or issues encountered during the revenue cycle process.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

Bachelors preferred.

Minimum of (4) years in a medical practice environment.

Minimum of (2) years of active medical coding and supervisory experience.

Prior experience with extensive coding auditing utilizing CMS regulatory guidelines and AHA standards.

Prior experience and knowledge of Federal Register and OIG plans. Prior experience in denials management.

Prior experience in instructional coder training as an educator.

Certification/Licensure:

Certification is required in one of the following: Inspira Health Position Profile 2

AAPC – Certified Professional Coder (CPC)

AHIMA – Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-based (CCS-P)

Knowledge & Skills:

Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and accurately process high volumes of work with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Proficiency with Excel, MS Office, Internet Explorer, Cerner EMR platforms.

Extensive knowledge of physician professional-fee reimbursement methodologies. Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, ICD10, CPT, and HCPC coding.

Ability to make independent decisions consistent with Inspira policies, procedures and standards.

Knowledge and understanding of all government and payer billing regulations and payer requirements.

Ability to organize and manage time effectively, setting appropriate priorities.
