MAJOR FUNCTION: Perform routine medical laboratory testing procedures using a variety of laboratory
instrumentation. Responsible for the performing and resulting of specimens received from
patients who may range in age from neonate, pediatric, adults to geriatric. Responsible for
maintaining proper quality control procedures, instrumentation against established standards,
operate the laboratory information system. Establish and maintain effective working relationship
with patients, medical staff, and the public. Perform any other duties necessary to run an efficient
and effective laboratory.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education: Bachelor’s of Science in Medical Technology or related field.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
B. Experience: 1 to 3 years clinical laboratory experience preferred.
C. Certification/Licensure: MT/ CLS (ASCP) certified or eligible. ASCP or equivalent, certified or eligible required.
Certification must be achieved within 9 months after hire date.
D. Physical Requirements:
1. Light lifting 10 pounds, standing and sitting in a normal position for an extended amount of time, specimen handling
and processing.
2. Requires fine motor coordination manual finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination for operation and repair of all
department equipment.
3. At times, in normal laboratory environment, may encounter chemical and bio-hazardous conditions.
4. Ability to see within normal range, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
5. Good visual acuity, including color perception.
