MAJOR FUNCTION: Manage the activities of the network wide Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) program; this includes direct reporting and oversight of CDI Specialists. Oversees the day-to-day operations of CDI, including but not limited to the development and monitoring of strategic operating goals, objectives, and budget; and reports operational performance, justification, and/or corrective action. Facilitates improvements to clinical documentation through chart review and educational training sessions, which could be required to be performed onsite, with physicians and/or other clinical professionals. Supports and implements technologies designed to improve and/or ensure the accurate depiction of clinical services, patient’s severity of illness, and risk of mortality. Will promote consistent and standardized operations and documentation across the network. Builds and maintains productive inter/intra departmental and vendor work relationships to optimize operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field required; Master’s Degree is preferred.

B. Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of progressive nursing experience in a medical or surgical area in an acute care setting and two (2) years of Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) experience. Comprehensive understanding of DRG reimbursement, particularly as it relates to CC’s and MCC’s. Must be able to perform in a fast-paced team environment and manage time effectively.

C. Certification/Licensure: Must possess a valid license as RN (Registered Nurse). Must possess a national certification in CDI (Clinical Documentation Improvement).
