This position is remote with onsite requirements for initial onboarding, training, and as needed at any of the Inspira facilities.

MAJOR FUNCTION:

Coders will review clinical documentation and diagnostic results to extract data and apply appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes for billing, internal and external reporting, research, and regulatory compliance. Under the direction of a Coding Manager, they will accurately code Emergency Room and/or Diagnostic records, maintaining proficiency in Emergency Room and Diagnostic coding using the current coding systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education:
  • Completion of Acute Care Medical Coder program from an accredited institution or Graduate of an AHIMA accredited Associate’s (RHIT) or Bachelor’s (RHIA) Degree program required.
  • Associates degree in Health Information Management, or other health science related degree preferred.

  1. Experience:
  • One year experience coding Emergency room records required
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

C. Certification/Licensure:

  • Certified in one of the following required:
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS); or Certified Professional Coder (CPC); or
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
