Inspira Continues to Invest in Provider and Staff Safety
Hello and welcome to the October edition of Provider Inspiration.
First, I’d like to officially welcome Inspira Medical Center Mannington to the Inspira Health family. The finalization of this integration marks a significant milestone for our entire health system and the South Jersey community. Our combined experience and dedication will enable us to deliver high-quality care to more people and improve the health of our community as a whole.
Violence against health care workers continues to be top issue for health systems. As a direct result of concerns expressed by providers and staff, we continue to implement training and technology to enhance safety across our network. In the past year, we have created a workplace violence team and adopted other best practices; transitioned to a new mass communication platform; and established partnerships with the prosecutor’s office, police and other emergency response organizations.
We have also improved policies; increased staffing levels for Security personnel and psychiatric APNs; and introduced the Strongline Staff Safety System, which provides an easy and discreet method to instantly summon help if you feel threatened. These systems will support the EAGL shot detection system, which is nearing rollout and will notify staff and law enforcement immediately of the location and weapon type during an active shooter event to expedite response time.
In addition, we’re rolling out a new visitor management system in November, exploring another weapon detection system (EVOLV), and working with world-class experts in safety and security from the FBI and Secret Service to implement advanced safety and security standards.
With autumn here, it’s time for flu shots. New Jersey law and our influenza vaccination policy require everyone working in an Inspira facility to receive a flu vaccine by November 30, 2023.
In this edition of Provider Inspiration, we’ll hear about the success of a pilot program that connected more than 140 people with prenatal care, and the growth plan for the Inspira Health Surgical and Vascular Center. We also celebrate 11 members of the medical staff who were recognized as Top Docs in Cancer by Jersey’s Best Magazine.
As always, thank you for everything you do.
Be well and stay safe.
