Elective Surgeries
On May 26, elective surgeries and invasive procedures resumed at all three Inspira Health Medical Centers with new safety protocols for all patients receiving elective care.
All patients are subject to pre-admission testing and temperature checks and must wear masks.
Virtual Healthcare Services
Telehealth remains a great asset to Inspira Health’s COVID-19 response.
For discharged COVID-19 patients, Inspira Health offers several telemedicine programs to help patients monitor symptoms and recover comfortably from their own homes.
Inspira Medical Group primary and specialty care continue to conduct appointments via telephone, or virtually when possible, for all visits. Additionally, Inspira Urgent Care provides immediate emergency support to all patients. Despite appointments now being online, the process for patients to schedule visits remains the same.
In addition, Inspira’s virtual assistant, Rosie, helps patients seek medical care based on symptoms and potential exposure to COVID-19. For those who may have been exposed to the virus, and do not believe they need medical attention, Inspira Health offers a free 16-Day Self-Monitoring Tool to monitor symptoms.
While these regulations and services are new, Inspira Health expects these programs to guide the future of its patient care. For any questions, the Command Center is open Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, and will be directed to a monitored email on the weekends.
COVID-19 Treatment Research Study Update
Inspira Health continues its participation in the clinical trial studying the effects of convalescent plasma spearheaded by the Mayo Clinic. As part of the study, Inspira is enrolling patients in this clinical trial and asking recently discharged COVID-19 patients to consider donating plasma to the research study.
Sami Abate, Ph.D.(c), MSHS, MSN, RN, CCRN, director of the Clinical Research Office, notes that transfusions within 72 hours of the onset of symptoms provide the best results. Already, over 50 patients who received plasma transfusions have shown significant improvement.
