Making Improvements to the Patient Experience
Hello and welcome to the May edition of Provider Inspiration.
Over the past few weeks, our team has been installing some new technology in inpatient, observation, surgical and emergency nursing units at Elmer, Mullica Hill and Vineland. This new technology is our Intelligent Observation (IO) system—an electronic hand hygiene monitoring system that will automatically capture compliance rates and efficacy when staff or providers enter and exit patient rooms. Read more about IO and how it contributes to our work as a high reliability organization in this month’s newsletter.
As we continue to navigate a changing health care environment, we’ve updated our COVID-19 Isolation Policy, effective immediately. As a reminder, please be aware of the following changes:
- N95 masks and eye protection must be worn for all aerosol-generating procedures, not just those on COVID patients
- Patients with a known COVID exposure should be isolated and re-tested after five to seven days
- Immunocompromised COVID patients must have two negative PCR tests (at least 24 hours apart and after at least 20 days of isolation) and an infectious disease consultation in order to discontinue isolation
We also recently learned that the statewide color-coded visitation level system is being curtailed, based on the current state of the pandemic and the vaccination levels achieved in our state. Inspira will continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of patients, visitors, providers and staff as we navigate this next phase. Click here for the most up-to-date information on our visitation policy.
In April, we welcomed Andrew Zinn, M.D., into his new role as medical staff president for the Elmer, Vineland and Bridgeton campuses. Read more about how Dr. Zinn plans to act as an advocate for medical staff members and continue to focus efforts on patient safety.
As always, thank you for everything you do.
Be well and stay safe,
Amy Mansue
