Provider Safety, Monkeypox, 100th Elective PCI and Salem Update
Hello and welcome to the August edition of Provider Inspiration.
First, I would like to congratulate Inspira Medical Centers Elmer, Mullica Hill and Vineland for being named 2022-2023 High Performing hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. This is the highest award a hospital can earn in the Best Hospitals Procedures and Conditions ratings—designed to assist patients and doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or elective procedures. In total, Inspira’s hospitals were designated High Performing for nine procedures and conditions.
We’re also celebrating the milestone of Mullica Hill’s 100th elective PCI performed since receiving its license in December 2021. We anticipate helping many more patients with the addition of elective PCI procedures at Vineland as of July 2022. Vineland has already completed 21 elective PCIs since being licensed and the overall cath lab volume has increased by 80 percent.
As monkeypox cases in the U.S. continue to rise, it’s critical to stay up to date on federal and state guidance and resources. Please see the CDC’s Information for Health Care Professionals to learn more.
Inspira’s acquisition of Salem Medical Center continues to progress. The required public hearing was held at Salem Community College on August 10. I’m excited to see us continue to work toward our goal of providing greater access to patient care. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming months.
Inspira has made protecting our providers and staff a top priority as violence against health care workers continues to grow across the country. With that in mind, we are implementing the Strongline Staff Safety System to provide an easy and discreet way for providers and staff to instantly summon help if they feel threatened while working in an Inspira hospital or the Bridgeton or Woodbury campus.
This month, we’re welcoming our new SVP, Chief Quality and Safety Officer, Dr. Tony Reed. We’re also learning more about two once-in-a-lifetime surgeries performed by Dr. Mark Ayzenberg, a surgeon at Premier Orthopaedics, on patients with latissimus tendon tears.
