Inspira Health is a charitable nonprofit health care organization and a regional leader in physician training, with approximately 160 medical residents and fellows in 10 nationally accredited specialty programs. The system, which traces its roots to 1899, comprises three hospitals, two comprehensive cancer centers, several multi-specialty health centers and a total of more than 150 access points. These include urgent care; outpatient imaging and rehabilitation; sleep medicine labs; cardiac testing facilities; digestive health and wound care centers; home care and hospice; and more than 35 primary and specialty physician practices in Gloucester, Cumberland, Salem, Camden and Atlantic counties.
In December 2019, Inspira opened its new $356 million hospital, Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill. Its adjoining leading-edge cancer center opened in early 2020. Smart Room technology enhances safety, efficiency and the patient experience throughout the new hospital. The cancer center brings medical, surgical and radiation oncologists to a single location, promoting highly coordinated multidisciplinary care, and convenience for patients and families. Inspira’s Cancer Program is accredited by the American College of Surgeons – Commission on Cancer. The Inspira Innovation Center, located across from the Mullica Hill campus, is designed to accelerate the development and implementation of leading-edge, patient-focused products and technologies.
Inspira Health is a High Reliability Organization, accredited by DNV Healthcare. High reliability organizations embrace a collection of behaviors and tools that have a proven track record of dramatically improving safety throughout an organization. In 2019, Inspira earned a national Press-Ganey Success Story Award for transforming patient care across its 150+ access points.
Inspira’s programs and services have repeatedly earned national recognition for excellence. Inspira’s medical centers in Mullica Hill and Vineland hold Chest Pain Center designation–with PCI Accreditation–from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care. All Inspira critical care units have been recognized with Beacon Awards for excellence in critical care by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. Inspira Medical Centers Elmer and Mullica Hill have earned “Blue Distinction” designation in Orthopedics for Total Hip/Knee Joint Replacements from Horizon BCBSNJ in 2020. Inspira Medical Centers Vineland and Elmer earned national Lantern Awards in 2019 for excellence in Emergency Care. Inspira Medical Center Vineland’s bariatric surgery program has received accreditation as a Comprehensive Center by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program. In early 2020, Inspira Elmer earned national Women’s Choice Awards for Obstetrics and Orthopedics.
Inspira Vineland (including the patient care units of Inspira Health Center Bridgeton) and Inspira Elmer are designated as Magnet® facilities for quality patient care, nursing excellence and innovations in professional nursing practice by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®. Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill has received the ANCC’s designation as a Pathway to Excellence hospital.
