Working from Home in the Pandemic

Working from Home in the Pandemic

Mar 2, 2021

The pandemic has changed the way we work, learn and socialize. The extra screen time can have physical and psychological effects on us. Inspira’s Spirit of Women hosted a virtual event reviewing best practices when it comes to posture and setting up our work stations.

Did you know?

  • Setting up an ergonomic workspace can alleviate physical stress. This includes having proper lumbar support from your chair, placing your keyboard and mouse near each other, and positioning your computer monitor at eye level.
  • You can avoid eye strain by using the 20-20-20 rule. For every 20 minutes of screen time, you should focus on an object 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
  • Clearly defining your working vs. nonworking spaces goes a long way for your mental healt (this means don’t set up your workspace in your bedroom if you can help it). You can take this a step further by creating a schedule for yourself that includes a set time to get dressed and transition to “work”… and don’t forget to schedule your breaks.
