In celebration of National Breastfeeding Awareness Month, Inspira Health hosted a special Tea and Cookies event at its Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill Mother Baby Unit. The event aimed to honor and support the journey of breastfeeding mothers while highlighting the crucial role of lactation consultants in promoting and assisting with breastfeeding.

The Tea and Cookies event, that recently took place offered new moms a chance to enjoy a selection of healthy cookies and tea while engaging in conversations centered around breastfeeding, sharing stories, and gaining insight from each other and from Inspira’s staff.

“Breastfeeding offers a myriad of benefits for both mother and child,” said Dawn Goffredo, MSN, RNC,FABC, Assistant Vice President of Maternity at Inspira Health. “At Inspira, we recognize the significance of this natural bonding experience and are dedicated to providing comprehensive support and education for new mothers.”

Breastfeeding offers numerous advantages that contribute to the overall well-being of both the baby and the mother. Research has shown that breast milk contains essential antibodies that strengthen the baby's immune system, reducing the risk of various illnesses, promotes optimal growth and provides the ideal blend of nutrients and antibodies suitable for development.

Inspira offers breastfeeding support services including inpatient and outpatient consultations with certified lactation consultants, support groups, and a breastfeeding “warm line” where patients can request a call from a lactation consultant. Lactation consultants play a vital role in empowering and guiding new mothers through their breastfeeding journey. These professionals possess a wealth of knowledge, having undergone specialized training, including the highest level of certification as Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC). With their extensive expertise, they provide valuable support, education, and assistance to help mothers overcome breastfeeding challenges they may encounter.
